Dov Oron commented on March 17, 2009 06:57:
great shot beautifully composed. Is this under the staircase, or in a small room?
Linn Smith commented on March 17, 2009 09:43:
Wow...powerfully framed portrait of this watchmaker! The antique look of his tools reinforces the passing of a lost art! An outstanding capture...congratulations on your win today!
Bill Foxworthy commented on March 17, 2009 10:22:
Watchmakers are special people and this scene shows the dedication of that trade Susan, congratulations!

Thank you to all of your for your kind comments. I saw this man in his little shop and went in and we talked for about 1/2 an hour before I asked if I could take a few photos. He had such an interesting life story, too. And the store's sign was the original, about 50 years old, hand painted. To answer Dov's question -- it's a small room, very narrow, a little shop. I'm happy you liked the photo, too! Thanks.

Susan, Congratulations on your POTD win. Good to see this image again. That's an incredible character study of the old jewler; blind-in-one-eye, kind and gracious to guests in his tiny, rustic workshop with peeling paint and all the tools. Plenty of detail here.

Susan, congratulations on a wonderful image you have made. This is a fine capture, especially for someone who says she doesn't photograph people. Well done!

Wonderful photo with lots of interesting detail as you look around the tiny space he works in.

I love it, Susan!!! What an excellent, well framed composition. One can really sense how much he likes his art of watchmaking which he obviously has done for several years as seen in the very fascinating environment surrounding him. I love the unique magnifier on his eye too. Big congrats on an outstanding capture!
