Nice composition, Dave! Congratulations. That tree must be ages old -- it's really beautiful.

Susan, Thanks for your note. Yes, the trees are all older than most of Pasadena. The landscaper guessed they are 150 to 300 years old, if I recall. Laramee is smart and talented. He told me 10 things about Arts and Craft, or Craftsman style gardens in the first 5 minutes I spent talking with him.

A wonderful find and I appreciate your explanation of the people in the frame! A beautiful capture of their exchange and great backdrop of the tree...big congratulations!

Terrific framing and composition in this inviting street scene depicting an engaging conversation under a fascinating and rare tree with quite a history. Congrats, Dave, on an excellent category winner!

Thank you all for the kind comments. The oak tree really makes the shot. I was a volunteer photog' for the event trying to capture people and just used the tree to frame them. The is a lot more history to the 1927 Annie Wilson house, including her father, Spanish Rancher Don Benito Wilson. This land was purchased from General Geroge Patton's family, and it's a few blocks away from the old EF Huntington Estate, now Huntington Library Gardens. Thanks to all for the recognition.
