Photographer Notes:
Catalina Island, 22 miles off the southern California coast, is a remnant of the Golden State before urban sprawl. The interior is protected, and Catalina's only town of Avalon is a treasure trove of 30's architecture. Here is Avalon's harbor in early-morning light, with the Casino (oddly-enough, never used for gambling) in the background. Taken with the Pentax DA 16-45 lens, ISO 100, f6.3, 1/125 sec @ 16mm.
