Photographer Notes:
Black Swallowtail Caterpillar in the stage of metamorphosis just before it pupates into a chrysalis. Two weeks later, if in the summer it will emerge as a butterfly. If it is a fall caterpillar, it will most likely over-winter in the chrysalis stage and emerge in the spring.
