Kilroy Was Here
by Bonnie Lackey (forbescat)
Camera: Nikon D-70
Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan
United States of America
Photographer Notes: The famous phrase probably came from JJKilroy marking the last rivet he inspected on each shift at shipbuilder, Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, Mass. After the ships were assembled, Kilroy Was Here showed up in unlikely places. The GI sense of humor seized upon the phrase and it became a lighthearted stamp upon the battlefields of WWII to signify that you can't hide from US troops. Walter P. Chrysler Museum.
