Sharon, what I've learned about taking pictures at re-enactments is to a) remain calm - don't jump; b) set the camera to continuous firing; and c) when you hear the command to "Present Arms", have your finger poised over the shutter and start clicking when you hear, "Fire!"

Come to think of it Carol, it would be very loud when they fire these old guns...you have done well to stay calm. The smoke and flames add so much interest to the image.

This image is simply terrific. Do not know how I missed it...unless I was out of town. Rare the shot with guns firing with such precise timing. I love re-enactment photos and this one is super...Great scene for the category too. Big congrats, Carol!
