This is a really cool image Al. I've never seen anything like this before are you able to tell me what it is exactly? Congratulations on your Photo of the Day win.

Well seen and especially effective in B/W to illustrate the old time look...congratulations on your POTD!

Thank you both. Chrissy this is a rotating train bridge, in this shot it is opened to allow boat traffic through the locks(doors on the left side). This is in an old industrial area and is still used to service paper making companies. I know of a few bridges like this in Norhteast Wisconsin.

H Al, Congratulations on your double honors today! I am glad that I did not get a chance to look at all of the POTD until now since I was wondering the same thing Chrissy asked - what is it! Thanks for the answer. Very, very nice capture (and thanks for the mechanical and historical education)

Thanks Randy - no problem. The view from over by the locks I like better, but it has a fence and some sheet metal in it that sort of ruin the shot.

Neat photo -- we've still got a couple of these old train bridges in Ohio, and they're always interesting. This works great in B&W. Congrats on the POTD!

Just saw a rotating train bridge along the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. Excellent photo...congratulations for yourPOTD.

A neat shot of this rather unique bridge from a great perspective, Al. And I love that rock in the lower 3rd to draw one right in...nice reflections too. Congrats!!!
