95 and the Reading's Fine

Photographer Notes:
We recently visited my dad, who's rapidly approaching 96 years young. The lenses in his glasses are a bit stronger than they used to be, but reading is still just about his favorite pastime.

*Nice* shot, Mommie. And that chair (rocker?) looks awfully comfortable. Bet your dad's favourite pastime keeps him younger than his years. Congratulations on your POTD!

Great candid image and so loving of your father as the viewer sees instantly he is enjoying his reading material! Congratulations on your image and on him being so young at his approaching age.

Thanks, Mike and Linn. Of course, I'm not the most objective person to give an opinion, but I think he's a pretty special guy!

Your dad's looking great for 95! A good candid shot with nice soft lighting. Something for us all to aspire for at that age - our health and eyesight!

Wonderful theme POTD, Monnie, of your dad who looks absorbed in a good article or story...terrific that he has such an interest in reading...it really shows and the fact that he finds joy in it as well. Congratulations on a fine win!

Thanks, Jane, Patrice, Kathy and Sherri! The magazine dad's reading is Readers Digest, which he won a "lifetime" subscription to back in the 1930s when a poem he wrote was accepted for publication. By now, I'm guessing he probably holds the record for the longest-running free subscription (boy did they ever lose on that one)! :-) And yes, he's still writing poetry.

I love this photo and the story that goes with it! And I can't believe he's almost 96 years young! Wow, Monnie, lucky lady you are to still have your dad! He's a winner!
