Photographer Notes:
One of the first flags to represent the United States this flag is commonly said to be first made by Betsy Ross in 1776. The flag was in use by 1777 but most historians do not believe Miss Ross to be the maker of the first flag. Miss Ross also left no claim to the flag except for the 5-pointed star.
