Pretty cool. Actually looks more like a computer illustration than a photo, so congrats on the great effects.

Soft pastel colors and lovely arrangement as the oil merges with the water...very beautiful abstract! Congratulations on your win today!

First, thank you all for the nice comments! Second, I didn't come up with this technique but found it via adarama. This image was done by taking a glass baking pan filling it 3/4's with water and adding drops of cooking oil on top. The color was accomplished by placing wrapping paper underneath the pan. Set up over top of the pan with camera and tripod. If you try this good lighting is a big plus. Happy shooting!
