Hummingbird Wannabe
by Mary Binford (mbbin2)
Camera:
Panasonic Lumix G1
Location:
Highland Park, Texas

United States of America

Photographer Notes:
This insect (I think) flies like a hummingbird. At first I thought that it was some kind of minature hummingbird but after viewing on my computer it looks like an insect of some kind. It wings move so fast, they make a noise.

Nice shot .. that is a Humming Bird Moth .. "White Lined Spynx" .. they are so neat to watch and unlike humming birds you can get really close to these guys ive had one in my hand ..and they come out more at dusk .so watch for them at that time...

Wonderful movement captured as this unique & quite fascinating looking insect draws some sustenance from the gorgeous floral. Nicely presented, Mary, congrats!
