Electronic Timing
by Melinda Schneider (morningmagenta)
Camera: Nikon D-40X
Location: Stephentown, New York
United States of America
Photographer Notes: When I started competing in dog agility in 2001, timing courses was done manually. They timer was lined up with the start finish line and used a stopwatch to time each run. Human error was inevitable. These days, electronic timing is common. The dog trips the device when crossing the plane of the first obstacle and again when clearing the last obstacle. Since contests are often won and lost by mere fractions of a second, electronic timing has improved accuracy within the sport.
