HDR at its finest Stephen! Congrats on your POTD. Question...did you have any issues with getting permission to shoot on tripod, assuming you had permission?
Stephen Elliott commented on August 16, 2010 07:19:
Thanks for your comments Randy, I didn't get permission as there was no one around to ask, but I would normally seek permission, most places don't have a problem with you taking a tripod, there are still a few that won't allow any photography at all which I respect but you will still see people with compacts taking pictures firing their flashes all over the place!

Exceptional work...very impressive and dramatic! The range of tone and beauty of the composition is outstanding...congratulations on your win today!

Thanks Stephen, I am of the same mind that I respect the requests not to take pictures or no tripods....if no one is there to ask then assumption of approval is a good bet since if it is something that should be guarded there would be someone there to tell you no. Great image.

Thanks very much for your comments, I think that HDR is an ideal technique for this kind of shot, I like how the detail of the stone and wood are brought out.
