Ruins of the Manor of Saint-Pol-Roux

Photographer Notes: Saint Pol Roux, born in 1861, decided to leave the Parisian literary world to which it belongs and from other areas moved in 1892 to Roscanvel to continue his work alone.
In 1903 he moved to Camaret in a place that calls for calm, its magnificent scenery, and an intense feeling of infinity that inspires creativity. Saint Pol Roux, regarded as a visionary, was the first modern baroque.
In 1910 he organized a fundraiser to rebuild the chapel.
But June 23, 1940, the Germans invaded the peninsula, by appearing in the manor, the housekeeper soldiers kill, injure Saint Pol Roux and his daughter Divine. Hospital in Brest, when he returned a few weeks later, his house was looted and partially destroyed manuscripts, of despair, he died October 18, 1940, he would have 80 years.
The Manor was destroyed by British aviation. Coecilian Manor overlooking the beach of Pen Hat and cliffs.
