Singing in the Rain
by Maureen Bisson (H-May)
Camera:
Kodak P850
Location:
British Columbia

Canada

Photographer Notes:
What a day to be taking pictures...it was just a'pouring here! These Pileated Woodpecker siblings ~ a girl on the left, singing her heart out, & her brother wiping his beak between beakfuls ~ were dripping wet. Counted 18 different species of birds here today, some still feeding their fledglings. Smallest = two Rufous Hummers, largest = the family of five Pileated ~ every size inbetween and all were mighty wet so there was a 'whole-lot-'a-shakin' going on. Amazing how much water goes flying when they shake the rain from their feathers. Slightly diffused internal & external flash used to capture this image.

Nice woodpeckers. Must be far western variety as we don't see these guys in the midwest. Great shot.
