Barbara Socor commented on October 06, 2008 08:41:
That my photo was so poorly received is of course very disappointing. And perhaps it deserves to be so received. Perhaps it is a bad shot and in need of many helpful suggestions. Sadly, the gratuitous invective of some, notably Klompie, reflects the ease with which some will eagerly stoop to sarcasm and, worse, to crude and meaningless ranting. What is gained, in a community of people with shared interests -if not equal talents- when some can offer nothing more than cursing in response to someone's effort?
Barbara Socor commented on October 06, 2008 08:47:
A few more words: To those who made a stab at decency, I thank you. Constructive criticism is a good thing, cursing reflects the crudeness of the speaker and offers nothing to this community. I regret the comment section was so ill used and I regret that the larger community at this fine site has been so ill used.
Barbara Socor commented on October 06, 2008 08:50:
If Klompie wishes to pursue invective and sarcasm, well fine...continue to demonstrate how little you have to offer. But what can you possibly achieve by pursuing nastiness with such zeal except confirm initial impressions of cruelty and a gutter mentality?
Kumiko Parkinson commented on October 06, 2008 11:22:
Klompie and the other rude people here, where are your winner photos?
Andrew Boyd commented on October 06, 2008 11:27:
With names like "Hank Wank" one gets the feeling it might be the same person using multiple accounts. Congtulations on your POTD,Barbara. Well done:-)
Andrew Boyd commented on October 06, 2008 12:57:
Dear Mr.Wank....ah,nevermind...
Teri Moyer commented on October 06, 2008 14:45:
I just read messages regarding your POTD today and I am totally embarrassed by the rude comments made. Your photos, including this one, are wonderful and well done. Congratulations on your POTD!
Linn Smith commented on October 06, 2008 18:54:
Great art provokes thought and controversy! Be proud, Barbara, you have achieved a major feat...how few ever reach this height! Big congratulations on your POTD!
Jane Mountain commented on October 06, 2008 19:56:
Barbara, you've obviously been the victim of some cruel sabotage here (one idiot, multiple names is my guess).
Patrice Cigallio Wesa commented on October 06, 2008 21:41:
I recently went on a few photo shoots by the lake shore just before dawn and the fog was very thick. I like the way it hovers amidst the rocks in the FG with their tips just barely visible & I love the hint of the shadows of those a little further out. It leaves one with a moody feel. The composition is innovative and creative & does provoke thought like Linn so well put it. I have always been a fan of your innovative artistry and genius, Barbara, big congrats!
Kathy Shogren commented on October 06, 2008 21:43:
Fun to see this again Barbara. I love the minimalist composition and wonderful contrasts. Congrats on POTD! Just ignore all the above nonsense, it will go away very soon. Some people you just have to pity.
Kevin L. Kitchens commented on October 06, 2008 21:59:
Sorry for the attacks. They've been removed and those IP address banned.
SaMi Martin commented on October 06, 2008 22:57:
Nicely done; Congrats Barbara! Barbara I didn't see the comments but I can relate; had it happen to me once. Some people r just troublemakers.
Caj Källmalm commented on October 07, 2008 19:52:
Barbara, I never saw those cruel comments but whoever wrote them and whatever they wrote they didn't have the slightest idea of what they were talking about, this photo is minimalistic and strong and you shouldn't bother in caring what they wrote. This photo is a real winner, a nice piece of art and so are the flowers, macros and other photos I've seen! Just keep 'em coming, I love seing this kind of photos!
