Lightroom/Camera Raw updates

Bugs, Languages, and plugins

Adobe has released updates to bring Lightroom up to version 2.3 and Camera Raw to 5.3.

The Lightroom 2.3 and Camera Raw 5.3 updates, originally posted as release candidates for community testing on Jan. 23, provide raw file support for the newly-released Nikon D3X and Olympus E-30 cameras.

The Lightroom 2.3 update also provides support for eight additional languages including Dutch, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish, Swedish, Korean, Chinese (simplified) and Chinese (traditional). Additionally, it addresses several issues including a solution to a memory leak that affected some customers of the Lightroom 2.2 release.

...companies have released plug-ins that further extend
Lightroom 2's capabilities. Today, Nik software announced that its Viveza plug-in for color refinement and light control is now compatible with Lightroom 2, and Photomatix recently updated its Lightroom HDR plug-in to work smoothly with Lightroom 2. PMA: Pretec Demonstrates 32GB SDXC Card

Write speed up to 50 MB/sec

From press release:
Pretec, creator of the highest capacity CompactFlash card in the world (100GB) and the fastest CF card in the world (433X), continues today its record braking [sic] history in the field of speed and capacity by unveiling the new SDXC 32GB, the world's first, highest capacity and fastest SD card at PMA CFA booth at LVCC South Hall K286 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SDXC (eXtended Capacity) is a next-generation SD card, with capacities up to 2 TB (2048GB), and read/write speed up to 50MB/s initially and up to 104MB/s in the future, with a possible 300MB/s as a long term roadmap. By using exFAT file system, Pretec's 32GB SDXC card is not compatible with SDHC, which is using FAT32 file system.

That's the good.

The bad is that currently no cameras or computers can use this new format.
