CanonFilmmakers.com Forced to Close by... Canon!
Well this is just plain stupid. Canon has forced the site "Canon Filmmakers" to close down using legal action. How mentioning the name "Canon" in a site name is an infringement on that company is a mystery to anyone who can think.
The site was all about techniques for shooting video with Canon's oddly excellent DSLR products. Oddly, because while the technology is great, the suits seems to have no brains when it comes to public relations.
Alas, CanonFilmmakers.com is going the way of film as have others that have dared to align themselves with Canon.
Read more about it at their farewell blog post: http://canonfilmmakers.com/blog/2011/06/01/all-good-things-must-come-to-an-end/

Lightroom 3.4 & Camera Raw 6.4 Released
Adobe sends word of their latest free updates to the Lightroom/Camera Raw processing tools.
Adobe today announced the Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 updates are available for immediate download on Adobe.com. Originally posted as release candidates on Adobe Labs, the final updates bring raw file support to 13 popular camera models including Canon EOS Rebel T3i, Nikon D5100 and Fuji FinePix X100, and add over 25 new lens profiles to help photographers automatically correct unwanted distortion and chromatic aberration.
In addition, the Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 updates address a number of issues reported by customers on the previous releases. Adobe encourages the community to provide feedback on the updates so it can ensure the highest quality experience for customers working on diverse hardware and software configurations. To that end, Adobe recently announced the integration of Get Satisfaction customer community and interaction software support on Photoshop.com, which lets users provide real-time feedback and requests for the entire Adobe Digital Imaging family of products. These new community support features can be accessed by choosing Product Feedback from the Products menu on Photoshop.com, by visiting http://feedback.photoshop.com/login, or on the Lightroom Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/lightroom?sk=app_144421742246079.

The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in provides fast and easy access to raw image formats produced by many leading digital cameras.

Olympus Updates the E-PL2 and E-5
Today Olympus announces the release of firmware updates for the E-PL2 and E-5.
Today’s version 1.1 update for the E-PL2 allows for increased control when using the new Add-on Conversion Lenses. The update changes the default setting of the Image Stabilizer to “On” when a photographer selects converter lens scene modes Fisheye (for use in conjunction with Fish-eye Lens Converter FCON-37), Wide-Angle (with Wide-angle Lens Converter WCON-37), and Macro (with Macro Lens Converter MCON-58).
Today’s version 1.1 update for the E-5 ensures that the camera’s LCD monitor’s color compensation will not be automatically reset.
To download and install these firmware updates, simply launch Olympus camera software and connect the camera via USB cable to an internet connected computer. Choose the Update function from the Camera menu in the software and the update for camera bodies, lenses and accessories can be effected.
The ability to update the firmware of E-System and PEN components -- bodies, lenses, flash units -- is one of the key advantages of a 100% digital design. Firmware updates are available through Olympus Master, Olympus Studio and Olympus' standalone firmware updater.
