National Cherry Blossom Photo Contest Deadline Nears

Second Annual Sigma Scholarship Contest

Sigma Corporation of America now accepting Scholarship Contest applications

High school seniors vie for $5,000 cash prize, $1,000 in photography products

Ronkonkoma, NY, Nov. 30, 2010 – Sigma Corporation of America is currently accepting photo and application submissions for its second annual Scholarship Contest. The contest, which will award $6,000 in cash and photography gear, is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue a photo-related career.

Sigma Scholarship Deadline Monday

Interested high-school seniors who are pursuing a photo-related degree have one more weekend to get their submissions in for Sigma's scholarship competition. One winner will received $5,000 in college money and $1,000 in Sigma gear. Entry deadline is this Monday, February 15 2010. [MORE]

You Too Could Win an "Oskar"

The 2010 "Leica Oskar Barnack Award" season is now upon us as Leica recognizes "photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment".

Submit 10-12 photos in a "self-contained series of images in which the photographer perceives and documents the interaction between man and the environment with acute vision and contemporary visual style – creative, groundbreaking and unintrusive."

Entries are accepted between January 15-March 15, 2010. The "Oskar" winner receives $5,000 euros or equivalent valued Leica gear. The "Newcomer Award" winner (for those under 25) receives $2,500 euros. [MORE]

Invading the Falklands? Take Your Camera and Win

Those who are visiting the Falkland Islands for business or pleasure are being asked by the Falkland Islands Tourist Board to submit their best shots of the islands until March 2010. Any photos taken in the last two years are eligible, so dig through your archives if you have them.

Canon Opens Fourth Annual Photography in the Parks Contest

Open to teens and adults - entries due September 30, 2009

Canon USA has opened their annual Photography in the Parks competition for submissions starting today. The fourth edition theme is "Inspirational Nature Images" and entries are accepted until September 30, 2009.

Two division, teens (ages 13-17) and adults (18+) are a new feature of this year's contest. Photos should be taken at any USA park or monument.

2009 International Garden Photographer of the Year Crowned

Jonathan Bermen wins for "In Tresco Abbey Gardens"

The wait is over, the green thumbs can all be washed, the second annual International Garden Photographer of the Year has been announced. He is Jonathan Berman of the United Kingdom for his work entitled "In Tresco Abbey Gardens" shot in the Scilly Isles. Berman wins international recognition, acclaim, and most importantly £5,000 ($7,517 USD).
